![]() This was just the beginning of Ada’s influence on American Idol. His story is important to my archive to show how far society has come yet it also shows how far we have to go. During the interview with the judges Ada has no problem admitting to his past and doesn’t try to hide being in Drag. Adam performs in a dress, wig, and make-up as Ada Vox, with an undeniable voice the judges had no choice, but to put him though to the next round. The video captures his strength and fortitude in his ability to go forward and be himself and show not only himself, but show the world that he is proud of the person he has become. He was able to leave his true performance out and became Ada Vox. He discusses the effects of bullying through social media and describes how the hardship was life changing and almost broke him, but instead giving into the depression decided to crawl out of the hole and fight for life, accepting who he was and through that strength he became a bigger, better performer. This video is very compelling as Adam shares his story and tribulations of being seen on national television as a member of the LGBT community. This is a 5 1/2 minute video starring 24 year old Adam Sanders/ Ada Vox from Texas as he is preparing to audition for the show a second time. This is a youtube video for the popular singing competition American Idol from March 2018. I felt it was important to add the negative side of Lactatia’s journey to this archive to show the adversity that this brave decision has placed on this family. Others blame the parents and feel this is wrong to allow their young son to run around dressed as a girl in front of a camera. Many believe this is a great thing for the LGBT community, to show how parents are able to accept their child’s wishes and are open to help them become who they want to become and how they want to present themselves to the world. Lactacia has made her way around runways across the world and has become an international name, but not all for good reason. The video shows both Nemis and his life as a skateboarder and Lactatia as she dressing up with her mother’s help. His fondness of dressing in Drag took over his life after watching RuPaul’s Drag Race on television. This nine year is a self proclaimed Drag Princess who has been dressing in girls clothes since he was able to fit into his little sisters tutu’s. Canadian born Nemis Melanin dresses in Drag as Princess Lactate and performs and models in female clothing This video is almost 4 minutes long and encapsulates a nine year olds life. ![]() This is a video posted by cbcplayer filmed by Jeff Pavlopoulos and Priscilla Galvez In the end, there was enough uproar and protesting including threats to boycott the parade that organizers gave in and did allow Drag Queens to attend the parade.Īrchive 8 EXCLUSIVE: RuPaul Announces HE’S MARRIED Protestors also reminded organizers that the Equality Act of 2010 that makes it illegal to discriminate based on gender identity or sex. The article discusses not only the importance of Drag Queens in the history of LGBT, but also discusses how transgender people feel discriminated against. What I was able to take away from this article was that even though the organizers made this decision, the community as a whole banned together to fight for the right of all to be allowed to participate in this important LGBTQ event. The article goes on to discuss not only the LGBT communities outcry, but also the publics outcry in this decision. “I think that because drag can be seen as camp, low-brow and comedic, we forget about this.” “On stage they make us laugh, smile and for that moment not have to worry about some of the crap that life can throw at people who are LGBTQ and I think they should be applauded for this.” So far we’ve come, yet so far we have to go. ![]() ![]() Stating that transgender persons were feeling uncomfortable with having Drag Queen’s at the event. The article explains the Free Pride organization’s reasonings behind the band. This item was important to include in my archive to show that there is still work to be done to fight for equality. This article is important to my archive to show that even in today’s world and certain subcultures are still shown discrimination even among the LGBT community. The article is on the rejection of Drag Queens to participate in the Gay Pride parade in Glasgow Scotland in 2015. ![]() This article was posted by The Beast July 23, 2015. ![]()
